Why the Changes?

The channel realignment process is designed primarily to create room to offer our complete channel lineup in a 100% all-digital format as well as to offer additional HD programming.  Better picture quality and additional HD programming, including both HD On Demand and new free HD channels in the near future, are driving these changes.

Part of the channel realignment involves removing west coast feeds of some Encore and Showtime channels.
• No programming is being lost.  The west coast feeds are simply 2-hour time shifted feeds of the exact same programs in the exact same order that they appear on the primary feed of that channel.
• DVR (digital video recorder) usage in Kansas City is increasing rapidly and over half of Digital Cable customers currently have a DVR.  With DVR service, customers can select and record any program or Premium Network movie and watch it on their schedule.
• Showtime On Demand is included at no extra charge for Showtime customers and is available on both channel 116 and 356.  Showtime On Demand lets customers access a library of over 130 titles and watch, pause, rewind, and fast-forward these titles at any time.

BBC America was moved from standard cable to the Digital Tier (channel 263) on which you can also find BBC America On Demand (channel 133).  BBC America on Demand is a new way of enjoying BBC America programming.  It lets you access award-winning BBC AMERICA programming whenever you want and as often as you like.

Due to a contractual agreement, Time Warner Cable was required to move two channels owned by Discovery Networks; Fit TV and The Science Channel.  This contractual requirement moved Fit TV from standard cable to the Digital Tier (channel 264), and moved The Science Channel from the Digital Tier to standard cable (channel 23).
