General Criteria
- Participating schools must be located within a Time Warner Cable service area.
- Eligible teachers (grades K-12) must work at state accredited public or private U.S. schools.
- Projects must involve cable resources, either with national cable networks or local government, educational or public access programs, or technology.
- Projects should focus on curriculum development in areas such as cross-curricular studies, classroom-to-community activities, study-related materials, audiovisual productions and/or multimedia applications.
- Submitted entries must take place in the 2007-2008 school year and be received by April 1, 2008.
To Enter/Deadline
A teacher or teacher team must create and conduct a project based on the above criteria and submit the attached official entry form, or a facsimile, and project summary, to be received by April 1, 2008. If needed, an 81/2" by 11" one-page summary of the project can accompany the official entry form.
To Submit Materials
- Lesson plans, student examples and other printed materials to support your entry may be submitted in an 81/2" by 11" binder or folder.
- Audiovisual entries must be on 1/2" VHS format tapes or DVDs/CDs, no more than four minutes in length. Indicate start/stop cues on tape label or provide a cue sheet if more than one clip is on the tape.
- Label all materials completely with project title, teacher name(s), school name, address and phone number.
- Materials submitted will not be returned. Make a copy of your entry before mailing.
All materials must be shipped pre-paid.
Judging
All entries will be judged by an impartial panel of knowledgeable professionals in education and television. Judging will be based on:
- Relevance to the curriculum
- Learning benefits to students
- Frequency and integrated use of cable programming or technology
- Innovative fresh approach
- Overall program content
- Quality of materials and student involvement
- Duration of project
- Number of students affected
