Caller ID
See who's calling before you answer the phone. Protect your privacy - and your free time.
How: Use a Caller ID-enabled phone or an external Caller ID box.
What: When a call comes in, the identity of your caller appears onscreen.
And: Most Caller ID displays automatically log all incoming calls, so you can see any call you miss when you're away.
Notes:
PRIVATE or ANONYMOUS means the caller doesn't want to be known in advance, and has blocked your Caller ID.
UNKNOWN, OUT OF AREA or UNAVAILABLE means the caller's area or phone system doesn't support Caller ID.
PAYPHONE means the caller is using a pay telephone.
NO DATA SENT indicates a phone system problem.
Caller ID Block (*67)
If you have chosen to reveal your identity when placing calls and wish to be anonymous for a particular call, press (*67) before you dial to block your identity from the other person’s Caller ID.
How: Press (*67) before you call.
What: Block your identity from the Caller ID of the person you're calling.
Then: Included Caller ID is restored when you hang up.
Caller ID Restore (*82)
If you have chosen to block your identity when placing calls and wish to reveal your identity for a particular call, press (*82).
How: Press (*82) before placing the call.
What: Your identity will be shown on the Caller ID of the people you call.
Then: When you hang up, your identity will revert to a blocked ID.
Call Waiting
When you're on the phone and a second call comes in, a gentle "Beep!" tone alerts you.
What: A "Beep!" tone announces your second call.
What to do:
To put the first call on hold and take the second, press FLASH or quickly press the switch hook.
To put the second call on hold and go back to the first one, press FLASH or the switch hook again.
If you hang up on one call, the phone will immediately ring to remind you that the other caller is still holding. Just pick up the phone to connect.
If you don't answer the second call, it will go to Voice Mail. If you don't have Voice Mail the caller will simply hear the ring tone.
Cancel Call Waiting (*70)
When you're making an important call and don't want any interruptions, press (*70) to temporarily turn off your included Call Waiting. When you hang up, included Call Waiting is automatically restored.
How: Press (*70) before you call.
What: Keep your next call clear of the included Call Waiting beep.
Then: Included Call Waiting is restored when you hang up.
And: During your call, incoming callers go directly to Voice Mail. If you don't have Voice Mail, they hear a busy signal.
Call Waiting ID
You're on the phone when "Beep!" you have another call. (Is it important?) With included Call Waiting ID, the identity of your second caller flashes on your Call Waiting screen.
How: Use a Caller ID-enabled phone or an external Caller ID box.
What: When your phone is in use and a second call comes in, the second caller's identity appears on the screen.
What to do:
To put the first call on hold and take the second, press FLASH or quickly press the switch hook.
To put the second call on hold and go back to the first one, press FLASH or the switch hook again.
If you hang up on one call, the phone will immediately ring to remind you that the other caller is still holding. Just pick up the phone to connect.
If you don't answer the second call, it will go to Voice Mail. If you don't have Voice Mail, the caller will simply hear the ring tone.
Call Forwarding (*72)
Now you can forward your calls to an alternate number by using Call Forwarding.
How:
Press (*72); listen for three short beeps and then a dial tone; enter the 7 or 10-digit number where calls will be forwarded and wait for the confirmation tone.
After the confirmation tone, the system will automatically place a courtesy call to the forward-to number. If the forwarded-to party answers the courtesy call, the feature is activated.
If at set up time, the forward-to line is busy or there is no answer to the courtesy call, the feature is not activated. You can still activate Call Forwarding by repeating the activation procedure within two minutes of the first attempt.
You will hear an error message if the forward-to number is invalid. Calls will continue to forward to the chosen number until deactivated.
If you have Voice Mail, your calls and calls that would turn into Voice Mail will continue to go to the forward to number thereby bypassing Voice Mail.
You must remember to deactivate Call Forwarding by pressing (*73) and waiting for the deactivation confirmation tone.
Speed Dial (*74)Now you can call frequently dialed phone numbers using just one digit.
How:
Press (*74); listen for the stutter tone and choose a digit from 2 to 9.
Enter the 7 or 10-digit number (dialing 1 first whenever it applies) that will be speed dialed and wait for confirmation tone.
Press the chosen digit (from 2-9) followed by the # (pound) sign and the system will speed dial the telephone number that correlates to the chosen digit.
You can store up to eight numbers at one time.
To change any of the stored numbers simply repeat the process with the new desired telephone number.
3-Way CallingNow you can call two parties!
How:
Place the first call. Once connected, press the “Flash” button on your phone to put your first call on hold.
When you hear the new dial tone, place the second call and, once connected, press the “Flash” button again to connect all three parties.
Anonymous Call Reject (*77)
Allows you to block unwanted calls from callers who restrict sending their Caller ID information such as “Anonymous” callers.
How:
Dial *77 to activate and wait for the confirmation tone.All unidentified calls will then be rejected.
You must Dial *87 to deactivate this feature.
Notes: Voice Mail subscribers who activate this feature along with Caller ID Block (*67) must use their Voice Mail access number, instead of their home phone number, to access the Voice Mail system from home.
Local Customer Service & Support (611)
Any time you need technical help with your Digital Phone features, service, or benefits, simply dial 611 from your Digital Phone service.
How: Dial 611 for answers to all your technical Digital Phone questions. Technicians will answer any time, day or night.
Enhanced 911 (911)
In an emergency, it's hard to remember more than "911." So Enhanced 911 automatically transmits your address and telephone number to emergency services. Please note that Digital Phone service does not include back-up power. As in the case with a cordless phone, should there be a power outage, Digital Phone service, including the ability to access 911 services, will not be available until the power is restored.
How: Call 911.
What: Emergency service automatically receives your address.
Low-Cost EXTRA Features
Voice MailFor one low monthly fee, have your callers leave messages when you can't - or prefer not to - answer. All you need is your telephone.
How: To see if you have messages, simply pick up the phone. If you hear a special "Beep-Beep-Beep!" dial tone, simply call your Voice Mailbox, enter your PIN and listen to your messages.
What: Voice Mail automatically plays your recorded greeting and takes a message after a certain number of rings.
