CableCARD™ is an interface for digital TV that lets you plug your cable line directly into your TV set without the need for a digital receiver or set-top box.  A small device, about the size of a thick credit card, plugs into a special slot built into your digital TV enabling access to programming services.

There are two types of equipment that utilize CableCARDs today:

• Unidirectional Digital Cable Products (UDCP) are one-way only devices.  That is, they are only capable of receiving linear broadcast programming services with no interactivity. All equipment currently available at retail with a CableCARD option falls into this category.
• Open Cable Products are two-way capable enabling interactivity and allowing access to ALL one-way and two-way services. Open Cable Products may become available at retail in early 2008. Refer to the User’s Manual that was supplied with your specific equipment to determine if it is UDCP or Open Cable compatible.

It is important to know that there are limitations to a CableCARD™ connection!

    You do have access to:

• Analog cable, Digital Cable, HDTV and Premium Service cable channels
  like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc.

    You do not have access to "two-way" programming services such as: 

• On Demand programming that allows you to pause, fast-forward and rewind programs, including Movies On Demand, Premiums On Demand and Free On Demand
• Interactive Program Guide
• Seasonal Digital Pay-Per-View Sports Packages such as NBA League Pass and more
• Interactive and Enhanced TV services, such as News & Information, Voting & Polling and more 
• Pay-Per-View events
• Additional time zone Premium Service channels available with some Premium Service networks (i.e. HBO West, Showtime West)

• Customers who want the easy-to-use on-screen Interactive Program Guide and other advanced features of our Digital Cable service will want to connect via a Time Warner Cable digital home communications terminal. Your personal needs are your guide to selecting the connection that works best for you.
• CableCARD™ can be activated, serviced and leased monthly through Time Warner Cable.
