Connections to the Community

EDUCATING CHILDREN AND FOSTERING THE ARTS
IN WESTERN NEW YORK

For Time Warner Cable (TWC), the nation’s second largest cable provider, community service is more than just a buzzword. We believe that it is important to reach out to local governments, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations where we do business to develop and provide programs, services and resources that are tailored to our customers. Here’s a brief look at what TWC is doing in our community.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING

In Buffalo, Time Warner Cable has donated more than $900,000 in financial and in-kind contributions to non-profit organizations in the area. Our local community outreach includes support for symphonies, art and dance organizations, youth after-school activities, environmental concerns, economic development, adopt-a-school initiatives and more. Our key areas of concentration for local giving include:
• Children
• Education
• The Arts

CHILDREN
We keep children as the central focus of almost all our giving, financial or otherwise.

EDUCATION
Education is the cornerstone of what we do, both on a national and local level. On a national level, we deliver cable programming and technology at no cost to schools across our footprint through initiatives such as Cable in the Classroom and Cable’s High Speed Education Connection.

THE ARTS
Time Warner Cable recognizes the ability that the Arts, in all its forms, have in shaping and enriching society and each individual. Our company both creates art in the forms of movies, music and television, and supports its development at all levels.

IN-KIND SUPPORT
Time Warner Cable realizes that monetary donations aren’t the only way to support organizations and programs in Western New York. Time Warner Cable’s community outreach also includes in-kind support, assisting local groups in raising funds and awareness. All in-kind donations must meet Time Warner Cable’s priorities and guidelines, and must be received in writing at least two months in advance. Time Warner Cable’s in-kind donations include:

• Employee Participation in charitable or cause-related walks and runs
• Gift Baskets to be given away or raffled off for fundraising purposes
• Production and editing of Public Service Announcements promoting an organization and/or a specific event
• Production of Fundraising and Educational Videos
• Volunteers at an event

ELIGIBILITY

Time Warner Cable only develops partnerships with organizations and programs that both serve
Western New York and that echo our three objectives. Organizations are required to have 501(c)(3) tax exempt status of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and must have a proven track record of success and benefit to our community. In addition, the financial contributions or in-kind support must stay locally, where Time Warner Cable serves its customers.

EXCLUSIONS
As a general rule, Time Warner Cable’s charitable contributions are not used for:

• Individuals
• General operating costs
• Political, labor, religious, fraternal or athletic organizations
• Trips and travel
• Scholarship funds
• Capital campaigns
• Programs outside our service area
• Member agencies supported by United Way or organizations that currently receive support from Time Warner Inc. and/or its subsidiaries.

APPLYING FOR SUPPORT

In response to the overwhelming amount of requests received each year, Time Warner Cable has created a contribution application process.
