Modem lights - Motorola SBV4200

  • Power light: Modem is plugged into operating AC outlet.
  • Receive and Send lights: Signal levels are OK.
  • Online light: Ethernet wire is properly inserted in jack in the back.
  • PC/Activity light: If you are also using this modem for the internet, then a blinking light indicates a connection and data transfer. If the light is off, then there is no internet connection.
  • Standby light: Light will be off unless the modem is in 'Standby' mode, in which case the light would be solid orange.

  • Standby light: Light is solid orange. All other lights are off.
  • Resolution:
    • Press and hold for three seconds the 'Standby' button, which is located on top of the modem.
    • Lights should appear as in Figure 1.
    • If this does not resolve the problem, then call us on your home phone by dialing 611 for direct home phone technical support. The phone service works in 'Standby' mode, but your internet service will not work.

  • If your all lights are off, then check the AC power cord. Make sure it's plugged into the back of the modem and into an active AC outlet.
