The troop was motivated to promote driving safety after their leader Amy Gawlik was tragically killed last year by a driver that ran a red light. Gawlik’s daughter, Hannah is a member of the troop and is featured in the PSA.
"This PSA obviously has a special meaning to our troop,” said Girl Scout Troop Leader Connie Perrine. “The girls wanted to encourage the public to pay attention while driving this holiday season in hopes that this type of tragedy would never happen again. Our girls have truly been moved by this loss and were thrilled to use Time Warner Cable’s media resources to share their important message with their community.”
