Recording a Show
You can easily record shows while you're watching them or set up future shows to record. Record up to 50 hours so you never miss your favorite shows.
 
Record While You're Watching
 
  1. Any time you're watching a program, you can start recording at the touch of a button. Just press the RECORD button rec72. Then press the SELECT button dvr_select72 to select Record this show from the menu to confirm your choice.
  2. You can start recording any time within the first hour of a show you've been watching since the beginning, and your DVR will still save the entire show.
  3. You can repeat the process to record a second show that's on at the same time. While both of these are recording, you can watch a third recorded show.
  4. At any time, to verify your show is recording, press the INFO button dvr_info72. The RECORD button rec72 will be displayed in the channel banner, along with show information to let you know your program is being recorded.
Recording Future Shows
 
  1. You can select future shows to record using the program guide. Press the GUIDE button.

  2. Use the UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons browserarrows72 to browse through the show listings, and time periods.
  3. Once the show you want is highlighted, press the RECORD button rec72. Then select Record this Show.
  4. Press the SELECT button dvr_select72 to confirm. Your program is now highlighted in red on the program guide, and is set to record.

Recording Options

You can get more options that allow you to fine-tune your recording choices. Here are some of the most common options.
 
Option 1: Extend Recording Time
 
Tip: This is great for when you're recording a sporting event that may go into overtime or an awards show that's running long.
 
  1. After setting up a recording (see steps above), press the LIST button to view your list of chosen shows.

  2. Press the B button to choose your list of Scheduled Recordings.

  3. Select a show with the UP/DOWN arrow buttons and press the SELECT button.
  4. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to highlight either the Start Time or End Time option. The default option is set to record On Time. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to choose the number of additional minutes before or after the event you want to record.
  5. Press the A button a72[1] to accept.
 
Option 2: Saving Your Shows
 
This allows you to choose how long your recorded shows will be saved.
 
  1. After setting up a recording (see steps above), press the LIST button to view your list of chosen shows.

  2. Press the B button to choose your list of Scheduled Recordings.

  3. Select a show with the UP/DOWN arrow buttons and press the SELECT button.
  4. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to highlight Save.
  5. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow buttons to choose Until space is needed (this will save your show until more space is needed to record new shows) or "Until manually erased" (this will save your show until YOU actually erase it. This is the safest option for your most important recordings).
  6. Press the A button a72[1] to accept.
     
Option 3: Recording an Entire Series
 
Tip: Use this so you don't miss any episodes of your favorite shows.
 
When you first set up a recording (see above), instead of choosing Record this Show, use the UP arrow button to select Record Entire Series and press the SELECT button. Then use Series Manager from the menu to give you more options on managing how you want your favorite series to be recorded.
 
  1. Press the LIST button.

  2. Press the C button c72[1] for Series Manager to view those series you've chosen to record. Select a show using the UP/DOWN arrow buttons and press the SELECT button.

  3. You will now see the following options in the menu:
    • Series Recording Priority - Sets which series take precedence if any are scheduled at the same time.
    • Series Recording Options - Allows you to choose whether to record all episodes on any channel or first run episodes, which channel(s) to record from, how many episodes to keep, etc.
    • Series Repeat Options - Allows you to choose which day(s) of the week to record repeat episodes.
    • Cancel Series Recording - Cancels your recording.
  4. Use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to highlight any of these choices and press the SELECT button. Follow the on-screen instructions and press the A button a72[1] to accept your choices.
