HDTV: HD Equipment
HDTV is the ultimate home-viewing experience. You get a wider screen, impeccable picture quality, and the very best in sound.
Now it's easy to see the TV you love in High Definition, with Time Warner Cable HDTV.
To get HDTV from Time Warner Cable, you only need 2 things:
- HDTV set
- HDTV cable box
HDTV Set
HDTV programs cannot be displayed on a standard TV, so you need and HD-capable TV set.

All of these options can deliver unbelievable picture and sound quality. There are many choices to fit your budget and viewing preference.
You may see two types of picture display on your HDTV set:
Widescreen (16:9)
Most HDTV sets come in a "widescreen" picture size. This widescreen format is oftern called "sixteen by nine (16:9)" to refer to its wider than standard TV, giving you a fuller picture and true cinematic experience.

Standard TV (4:3)
All TV programming is not yet offered in HD. HDTV sets can show regular programming in the nearly square standard format - sometimes called "four by three (4:3)." This means you can switch back and forth between widescreen and standard displays on the same set.

There is some additional, optional equipment you can get to enhance your HD viewing experience. This equipment is not essential to watch HDTV, but can give you an even better audio experience.
HDTV offers amazing, CD-quality sound. Most HDTV programming is available in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, the ultimate in sound quality.
This means you can enhance your viewing experience even more if you have a surround sound system that includes the following:

A/V Receiver with a Dolby Digital decoder
-
Separate speakers
-
Sub-woofer
