WiFi allows customers to connect wirelessly to the Internet through a WiFi router. Wireless in-home networking allows a TWC customer with multiple wireless devices (i.e. gaming consoles, iPods, Roku, Chromecast, etc.) to share files, printers, and provide all with an Internet connection. This is made possible by connecting the devices through a wireless router. In most wireless in-home networks, the wireless router provides a wireless SSID (Service Set Identifier) that is used to connect in-home devices to the in-home LAN as well as to provide these devices with access to the Internet.
In addition to restricted use in homes and offices, WiFi can make access publicly available at WiFi hotspots to customers. Businesses such as airports, hotels and restaurants often provide free hotspots to attract or assist customers.
