Answer:

Yes, if your wireless gateway/router is not secure then someone nearby with a computer or WiFi enabled device could access your home network and use your High Speed Internet Service, which could increase the monthly usage. Securing your wireless router/gateway to prevent others from using your High Speed Internet Service is recommended. Time Warner Cable suggests the use of common encryption protocols, such as Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) or Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) for security.
