World IPv6 Day took place on June 7-8 2011. Sponsored by the Internet Society, major websites including Google, Facebook, and Yahoo! enabled IPv6 on their websites for 24 hours.
Issues that resulted from the 24-hour "test flight" were exceptionally minimal, and nearly all Internet users worldwide continued using the Internet without a problem. The success of World IPv6 Day is an encouraging nod to all who have been working to implement IPv6. Time Warner Cable is working to create a seamless Internet experience for all of its customers while it continues to work to offer a fully supported production IPv6 in the first half of 2012.
