Will customer-owned devices work with IPv6?

Answer:

Yes, most customer-owned devices will work with IPv6.

Customer-owned devices behind the cable modem/MTA (such as gateway routers) will be provisioned with both IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously. For equipment that is five years and older, there’s a good chance that it’s not possible to upgrade the software to support IPv6. In these cases, the older customer-owned equipment will only be able to communicate with networks and devices that use the IPv4 protocol.
