How do I check the status of my video card in Windows 2000 or XP?:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Control Panel.
  4. Click System.
  5. Select the Hardware tab.
  6. Click Device Manager.
  7. Click the plus sign (+) to expand the Sound, video, and game controllers entry.
  8. Right-click your video card title (Legacy Video Capture Devices, Video Codecs, etc. )
  9. Select Properties.
  10. In the Device Status box, check that the message is This device is working properly. If the Device Status message states that the device is not working properly, press the Troubleshooting button or contact your sound card or computer manufacturer for further assistance.
