Phone >> Features >> Why is the Caller ID name display different than I have seen in the past?
Question:
Why is the Caller ID name display different than I have seen in the past?
Answer:
In August 2010 Caller ID display was changed to provide a more consistent and accurate method of presenting names for incoming calls to your Home Phone. With this change:
Calls from residential phone numbers: Names will display as mixed case, in Lastname, Firstname order. If the entire first name cannot be displayed, only the first initial will display.
Calls from business phone numbers: Names will display as UPPER CASE and truncate after 15 characters.
If no name is available, then the caller ID locality will display city and state for calls from land lines, or “Cell Phone” & state for calls from cell phones
