Why is TWC moving channels from analog spectrum to digital?

Answer:

Analog channels use as much as 14 times more bandwidth than digital channels. This move allows Time Warner Cable to free up bandwidth by making select channels available in a digital-only format. The transition will allow us to create extra bandwidth in order to give our customers increased Video On Demand content, better picture and sound, more HD channels, enhanced Home Phone services, faster Internet speeds and enhanced TV options such as Start Over®. It will also allow us to improve our network capabilities.

Please note that this change does not impact televisions that are already using a digital device such as a CableCARD™ or a set-top box.
