Can I use the DVR Manager to browse shows by sub-category?

Answer:

Yes, the PC application now gives you the ability to browse by sub-category. For example, you can now choose to browse for particular sports (football, basketball, etc.) within the Sports category, or choose Sitcoms from the Comedy category.

To use this feature, within the Browse tab, click More on a category to reveal the sub-categories.
