What is 480i, 720p and 1080i?

Answer:

All Time Warner Cable set-top boxes are capable of displaying all of these HD resolutions. The numbers represent the number of horizontal lines of colored dots on the screen. The more lines there are, the sharper the picture. However, it's not that simple. Sporting events, for example, are best displayed at 720p because the screen refreshes faster, thus showing fast action better. The letters 'i' and 'p' stand for 'interlaced' and 'progressive'.
