    RT-U27 models support the following devices:

    - CABLE/SAT - Universal
    - Motorola
    - Scientific - Atlanta
    - TV - Universal

    RT-U27-DVR model uses a 2-color (red / green) LED to indicate whether the remote is controlling channels on the CBL / SAT (LED = red) device or the TV (LED = green) device.

    The RT-U27-DVR model is back lit for improved keypad visibility under low light conditions.
  • Channel Control Options
    Channel control default is to Cable set-top terminal.

    To control channels through the TV:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together hold both buttons down until the [Cable] button lights up.

    2. Press [0,0,0] (numeric 0 key slowly). Each time you enter a 0, the LED will blink green and remain illuminated.

    3. When you enter the third digit (0), the LED blink green three times and go out.

    Note: when controlling functions / channels on the TV (VOL+/-, MUTE, 0 - 9, Ch +/-, LAST / FAV, SEL), the LED will Illuminate green.

    To control channels through the Cable set-top terminal:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together hold both buttons down until the [Cable] button lights up.

    2. Press [9, 9, 9] (numeric 9 key slowly). Each time you enter a 9, the LED will blink red and remain illuminated.

    3. When you enter the third 9, the LED will blink red three times and go out.
  • Volume Control
    Volume control defaults to TV.

    To program volume control to Cable set-top terminal:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together until the LED illuminates.

    2. Press [VOL +], then [CABLE POWER] for Cable volume.

    3. The LED will blink 3-times and go out.

    To program volume control to TV:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together until the LED illuminates.

    2. Press [VOL +], then [TV] for TV volume.

    3. The LED will blink 3-times and go out.

    Volume control is returned to default setting during Reset.
  • Code Number Read-Back
    Code number read-back programming same as current RT-U27 models

    Code number read-back for Cable is as follows:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] until the LED illuminates.

    2. Press [INFO].

    3. The LED will blink back the 3-digit code.

    10 BLINKS = DIGIT [0]

    9 BLINKS = DIGIT [9]

    8 BLINKS = DIGIT [8]

    7 BLINKS = DIGIT [7]

    6 BLINKS = DIGIT [6]

    5 BLINKS = DIGIT [5]

    4 BLINKS = DIGIT [4]

    3 BLINKS = DIGIT [3]

    2 BLINKS = DIGIT [2]

    1 BLINK = DIGIT [1]


    Code number read-back for TV is as follows:

    1. Press [TV POWER], then [MUTE] until the LED illuminates.

    2. Press [INFO].

    3. The LED will blink back the 3-digit code.
  • [LAST / FAV] Button
    [LAST / FAV] buttons operates as follows:

    Press & release [LAST / FAV] button. Button transmits [Last] function and the LED illuminates.

    Press & hold [LAST / FAV] button:

    Button first transmits [Last] function, then after 2-seconds enters [Fav] mode.

    While the remote is in the [Fav] mode, pressing [LAST / FAV] transmits the [Fav] function and the LED illuminates.

    If [LAST / FAV] is not pressed for 3-seconds in [Fav] mode, remote returns to [Last] mode.
  • [Light] button
    1. The [Light] button is used to turn on and off the back lighting for the keypad.

    2. Press and release light button keypad backlighting illuminates for 7-seconds. Press and release [Light] button again within 7-seconds will cause keypad backlighting to go out.

    3. Press and release light button keypad backlighting illuminates for 7-seconds, but will remain illuminated while other buttons are being pressed. Once button presses stop, keypad backlighting will go off after 7-seconds.
  • Reset
    Reset procedure is as follows:

    1. Press [CBL POWER], then [MUTE] together until the LED illuminates.

    2. Press [CBL], then [CBL] again.

    3. The LED will blink 3-times and go out.

    Reset procedure returns the following selected features to their default settings:

    TV - setup code >Code 014
    Channel control > reset to its default [CBL] (Red LED)
    Volume control >TV

    Cable setup codes are not reset during reset procedure.
  • How do I program my remote to turn on/off all or some of my devices at the same time?
    1. Press [ALL], then [MENU] together until the [CBL] button illuminates.

    2. Enter one of the following options on the keypad of the remote:

    [0] - Turns on / off CBL + TV (default setting)

    [1] - Turns on / off CBL + TV and tunes TV to output Channel 3.

    [2] - Turns on / off CBL + TV and tunes TV to output Channel 2.

    [3] - Turns on / off CBL + TV and tunes TV to output Channel 4.

    [4] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD and tunes TV to output Channel 3.

    [5] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD and tunes TV to output Channel 2.

    [6] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD and tunes TV to output Channel 4.

    [7] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 3.

    [8] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 2.

    [9] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 4.

    [10] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD

    [11] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + VCR + DVD + AUDIO

    [12] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + AUDIO

    [13] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 3

    [14] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 2

    [15] - Turns on / off CBL + TV + AUDIO and tunes TV to output Channel 4

    3. As soon as you select an option, the [CBL] button will blink 3-times and go out.
  • Point and Press Programming
    1. Turn on all the electronic devices TV, VCR, DVD, AUDIO that you want the remote to operate.

    2. Press [SEL/OK], then [MUTE] together until the device power buttons illuminate in slow-rotation (ex: CBLg TV g VCR g AUD g CBL)

    3. Press and hold [CH +] button until one device turns off. While pressing [CH +], the device power buttons will illuminate in fast-rotation. As soon as one device turns off, release [CH +]

    4. Press [MUTE]. If the device that turned off

    a. Turns back on, press [SEL/OK] to lock in this code. The power buttons will blink 3-times and go out

    b. Does not turn back on, press [CH -] one step at time until that device turns back on. Each time you press [CH -], the power buttons will illuminate once in reverse fast-rotation (AUD g DVD g VCR g TV g CBL g AUD)


    Once you have found a code that turns the first device on/off, press [SEL/OK] to lock in code the power buttons will blink 3-times and go out.

    ** Repeat steps 2 4 above for remaining devices you wish to program remote to operate.

    ** After the setup code is locked, your remote will be in the operating mode of the device that was just programmed.
  • Code Number ReadbackTo identify the 3-digit TV code stored under the Point and Press Programming method
    1. Press [TV], then [SEL/OK] together until the [TV] button illuminates.

    2. Press [INFO]

    3. The LED buttons will blink back" the code number, with a 1-second interval between the digits.

    4. Press [MUTE]. If the device that turned off

    Example: For TV code "035" the LED button will display a rapid flash signifying [0], followed by a pause, then 3-times followed by a pause, then 5-times.

    To identify the 3-digit VCR, DVD or AUDIO code, press [VCR] or [DVD] or [AUD], then [SEL/ OK] together in step 1, then press [INFO]"
  • Programming Tips
    1. Always read the instructions before programming

    2. Remotes consume more power in a programming mode than during normal operation. If remote will not program, batteries could be old. Install new batteries

    3. Remote operates slower in a programming mode. Press buttons slowly, carefully, and in order indicated

    4. The LEDs will remain illuminated when the remote is in a programming mode. If you dont start programming within 45-seconds, the LEDs will go out

    5. Be sure to press the [SEL/OK] button to lock in a device once you have found the correct setup code

    6. When programming your remote, the [MUTE] button is used to confirm the correct setup code has been entered

    7. For the majority of TVs, VCR, DVDs, pressing [MUTE] during programming will turn the device you are programming back on. However, due to their electronic design, some brands (i.e. Philips) may not turn back on when the [MUTE] button is pressed during programming

    8. If this happens, simply press the [SEL / OK] button to lock in the code that was just entered. Then press the [TV] button to see if the TV turns on. If the TV turns on, the correct code has been entered
