Overview

Program your Time Warner Cable remote to control your TV using the instructions below. There are two common ways to program your TWC remote to work with your TV and other devices, such as your DVD, DVR, etc.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

Program your remote by displaying the code that works with your TV. This option scans through all of the codes in the remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code.

Manual Method

Program your remote by looking up and then entering a code that corresponds with your TV brand.

Auto-Search Method (recommended)

The Auto-Search Method scans through all of the codes in the TWC remote control, one at a time, allowing you to identify the correct code. Follow these steps:

Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate.

On your remote, press the corresponding device button [such as TV, DVD, CBL] and the SELECT/OK buttons simultaneously until all the device buttons blink twice.

Point the remote control at the device and press 9 9 1. The device button you selected in step 2 blinks twice.

Press the PLAY arrow button one time.

If your device powers off, go to step 6. If not, press the REWIND or FF arrow buttons to step through the available codes until it does.

Press SELECT/OK as soon as the device powers off.

Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn back on. If it does, try changing the channel to verify programming was successful.

Press SELECT/OK to store the code.

Note: If your remote does not control your component after following the steps above, try the Manual method.

Manual Method

You can set up the TWC remote by entering a code that corresponds with your device’s brand. The codes for the most popular TV brands are listed below. If your TV brand is not listed or you would like to set up another device, please open the PDF version of the manual to find your code then follow the instructions below.

Follow these steps:

Turn on the device, such as your TV, that you want the remote to operate.

On your remote, press the corresponding device button [such as TV, DVD, CBL] and the SELECT/OK buttons simultaneously until all the device buttons blink twice.

Point the remote at your device and enter the code assigned to your brand.

If there is more than one code for your brand, try one code at a time until all the device buttons blink three times.

Verify that the correct code has been selected by pressing the POWER button. Your device should turn back on. If it does, try changing the channel to verify programming was successful.

Note: If your remote does not control your component after following the steps above, try the Auto-Search Method.

Volume Control

Once your TWC remote has been programmed to turn your TV on and off, it is also set up to control your TV’s volume.

Note: AUX mode controls the volume of your auxiliary device, such as your sound system.

To change the volume control to your cable box, use the following steps:

On your remote, press the CBL and the SELECT/OK buttons simultaneously until all the device buttons blink twice.

Point the remote control at the device and press 9 9 3. The CBL button blinks twice.

Press the CBL button until all device buttons blink three times.

Note: To restore the TV volume control to TV mode, repeat the above steps but press TV in step 3.

Batteries

If your TWC remote begins to malfunction, your batteries might need to be replaced.

Installing/Replacing

Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote and remove the old batteries.

Carefully install two new AA batteries as shown in the illustration inside the battery cover.

Replace the battery cover.

Note: When batteries are properly installed, the light on the remote blinks each time a button is pressed.

Replace Your Remote

If you have tried replacing your batteries and you are still having issues with your TWC remote control, it may be time to trade it in. Bring your old remote with you to a local TWC Store and trade it for a newer model or contact us for a replacement.
