Education Initiatives: Weather Classroom -- Whether you are teaching high school students about air quality, or helping your second grader with a homework assignment on clouds, weatherclassroom.com is a one-stop shop for weather-related educational materials.  The resources at weatherclassroom.com are grouped by audience – teachers, parents, and students – so you can easily find what you need.

Teachers, here are some Weather Channel lesson plans to use in your classroom:

Education Initiatives: A&E Classroom -- Every weekday morning at 4:00 a.m. (ET), A&E Classroom broadcasts a range of commercial-free programming including BIOGRAPHY, documentaries, and literary classics such as Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen and Horatio Hornblower by C.S. Forester. Twice a year, A&E Classroom provides a six-month planning calendar and The Idea Book for Educators to more than 200,000 teachers in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, A&E's Web site offers over 250 study guides accessible to teachers. The program also sponsors workshops and training sessions for educators in conjunction with our cable affiliates across the country. http://www.aetv.com/class

The annual student video documentary contest, StudentCam, invites students to create a video giving their views on a current issue.

On TV: Through televison programs such as Assignment Discovery, Discovery Channel Education has long helped educators, parents and students expand the boundaries of learning. Assignment Discovery is designed specifically to support educators who are interested in incorporating video into existing curriculum. Commercial-free and copyright-cleared, these programs are free for educators to tape and retain for use in the classroom for at least one year. Each program features on-screen discussion questions and suggested readings and resources. Assignment Discovery airs Monday through Friday, from 9:00 - 10:00 am (ET/PT) on Discovery Channel.

Online: The core mission of DiscoverySchool.com, a free online destination, is to make teaching and learning a rewarding adventure for students, teachers and parents. DiscoverySchool.com features three separate areas ("Channels") for teachers, students and parents. www.discoveryschool.com
