President
Stephen R. Fry is President of the Northeast Ohio Division of Time Warner Cable, the second largest cable television operator in the United States. The Division currently serves more than 985,000 customers Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Under Fry's leadership, Time Warner Cable has constructed one of the most advanced cable communications networks in the nation.
Steve Fry has literally "climbed the ladder" at Time Warner Cable. A native of Canton, Fry attended Ohio University. He joined Warner Cable in 1970 as an installer in the North Canton system, climbing ladders and providing new service to customers. From 1973 to 1980, he held various management positions at the Columbus, Ohio cable system, including Installation Supervisor, Plant Manager, and finally Director of Technical Operations for the renowned Warner QUBE system. In 1981, Steve was promoted to General Manager of the greater Akron system, and became President of the Northeast Ohio Division when it was created in July 1990.
Steve Fry's impact on telecommunications is evident in many of the major innovations in cable communication over the past two decades. From the QUBE two-way interactive network, where program channels like Nickelodeon and MTV were born, to cable TV's latest innovations: including high-speed online computer services and video-on-demand. Most recently, Steve Fry has led the deployment of Time Warner Cable’s newest product, Digital Phone.
Fry served as President of the Great Lakes Cable Television Association, and in 2003, he was inducted into the Great Lakes Cable Expo Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in cable and his contribution to the industry’s overall advancement. Fry has also served as President of the Ohio Cable Television Association, a former chairman of the United Way Pacesetter Campaign, and the Sugartown Express for the Diabetes Association. Steve is an active community leader, serving on the boards of Leadership Akron, the Akron Civic Theater, and the American Heart Association. Fry was recognized as a distinguished corporate leader representing Time Warner Cable at the American Heart Association’s 2005 Heart Gala.
Just as Steve Fry’s leadership has improved the quality of life for cable customers in the region, his tireless corporate citizenship has aided many local charities and organizations throughout Time Warner Cable’s footprint.
