Rick Whaley
Vice President/General Manager of Operations

Rick Whaley is Vice President/General Manager of Operations for the Northeast Ohio Division of Time Warner Cable. He is responsible for the overall growth and service strategies for more than 220,000 customers in a nine county territory in both Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Whaley oversees the area’s management team and employees by maintaining subscriber growth goals, customer service standards and financial targets – ensuring delivery of world-class customer care.

In 1991, Whaley began his career in the cable television industry with Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI). After working in several states over a six year period for TCI, Whaley was transferred to Insight Communications in Indian and again to AT&T Broadband in Illinois. Whaley worked for AT&T Broadband for two years before joining Adelphia Communications in 2000 based in Central Ohio. He served as the General Manager at Adelphia Communications for over six years directing operations for a system of 98,000 customers, eight offices and 131 employees. Whaley assumed his current position as Vice President/General Manager of Operations in 2006 for Time Warner Cable Northeast Ohio/Western Pennsylvania, the second largest cable division in the county.

With local roots in Northeast Ohio, Whaley graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. Degree in Liberal Arts, and a concentration in Psychology.

Whaley has been a member of the Ohio Cable Television Association for 16 years, and has been active with the Broadband Cable Association of Pennsylvania. He served with the Rotary of West Virginia for four years, and also with the United Way’s philanthropic efforts in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Rick remains active with Ohio Little League, coaching for more than seven years. He resides in Madison, Ohio with his wife Anne and their four sons.
