
Darrel Hegar
Vice President/General Manager of Operations
Darrel Hegar is Vice President/General Manager of Operations for the Northeast Ohio Division of Time Warner Cable. He is responsible for the overall growth and service strategies for more than 400,000 customers in a five county territory based out of Cleveland, Ohio. Hegar oversees the area’s management team and employees by maintaining subscriber growth goals, customer service standards and financial targets – ensuring delivery of world-class customer care.
In 1998, Hegar joined the cable industry working for MediaOne in Denver, Colorado. He subsequently worked with AT&T Broadband and Comcast through a series of mergers. Hegar has served in senior Corporate Strategy and Product Management roles prior to dedicating his career to serving customers in a field leadership capacity. Hegar’s knowledge of retail business developed with this own computer and sales service company six years prior to entering the cable business. He was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Houston Division of Time Warner Cable, serving the fourth largest city in the U.S. Hegar assumed his current position as Vice President/General Manager of Operations in 2006 for Time Warner Cable Northeast Ohio, the second largest cable division in the country.
Originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, Hegar graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, where he received scholarships from NASA and the U.S. Patent and Trademarks Office. Hegar completed his Masters in Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Hegar received the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication’s (NAMIC) 2007 Next Generation Leaders Award, which recognized emerging business leaders who represent the organization’s mission to promote multiethnic diversity in the communication industry. Since 1999, he has been a member NAMIC and a former fellowship recipient.
He is also a member of the American Marketing Association where he serves on the Chief Marketing Officer Advisory Council. For seven years, Hegar has served as a member of the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM).
Darrel served five years in the United States Air Force. He is a Gulf War veteran with several medals and awards of recognition for his service. Darrel resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and their two children.
