Vice President of Government & Media Relations

Bill Jasso is Vice President of Government & Media Relations for the Northeast Ohio Division of Time Warner Cable. He is responsible for franchise agreements in 234 communities in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, maintaining federal, state and local regulatory commitments with all governmental entities. Jasso oversees all media communication and serves as the company spokesperson.

Jasso has served two tours of duty with Time Warner, the first from 1981 to 1986 as Government Affairs Manager and then Director of Public Relations for the National Division. He re-joined Time Warner in 1994. In between, his experience includes six years as Assistant to the Mayor of Akron, Ohio - a cabinet-level position responsible for public communication and strategic planning. Bill still serves as a media relations trainer for the Akron Police Department and Summit County Sheriff's Office. Before his tenure in city government, Bill was Vice President of Communications for the National Golf Foundation, where he organized the first Golf Summit in 1987.

Jasso started as a radio reporter and news director at WHLO, and hosted a weekly news program on public television. He is the recipient of several awards for writing, reporting, and news management including an Associated Press Award for his 1975 interview/documentary "John Lennon: Beatle Without A Country".

Jasso has a B.A. from The University of Akron, and an M.S. in Communications Management from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He is a graduate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency "Crisis Management" and "Public Information" schools. Bill is professionally accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, and is a past PRSA Chapter president.

Bill was recipient of the 2003 Pinnacle Award, presented by the Great Lakes Cable Association. His board memberships include: the Cable Television Public Affairs Association, Summit Education Initiative, Kent State University’s Public Relations Professional Council, and the Public Affairs Committee of the Akron Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Leadership Akron, and chairs the annual Orientation Retreat. Apparently due to a shortage of “J” surnames, Bill is profiled in the inaugural edition of “Who’s Who in the Media and Communication,” and the Millennium Edition of “Who’s Who in America.”

Bill and his wife Jeanne have one daughter. The Jasso's live in Akron, Ohio.
