About Your Remote - Back to Top
Your new AT8400 AllTouch® remote control ("remote") functions as four remote controls in one to operate your TV, VCR, cable set-top device, and CD player. If you prefer, you can program the remote to operate additional electronic devices, such as a stereo receiver or a DVD player.
In addition, the AT8400 provides advanced features such as Digital Video Recorder (DVR) controls for certain cable set-top devices and Picture-In-Picture (PIP).
Note: If you have questions or concerns about the operation of this remote, contact us.
Batteries - Back to Top
The remote requires two alkaline AA batteries. A diagram in the battery compartment of the remote indicates proper placement of the batteries.
Mode Keys and Setup Codes - Back to Top
Q: What are mode keys?
A: The mode keys switch the remote to operate a particular device.
Q: What are setup codes?
A: Setup Codes are numeric codes that identify your brand of equipment so that the remote can operate that equipment.
Important Reminder: The AT8400 AllTouch remote control is not a toy. It is designed for adult use and should be kept out of the reach of children under the age of 6 years
Setting Up Your Remote - Back to Top
The mode keys are programmed with most of the popular brands of electronic devices, so before you perform this procedure, test each mode key. To test the mode key, turn on your device, press the mode key for that device, and then press POWER on the remote control to verify that the power to the device turns off.
To Set Up a Mode Key - Back to Top
Follow these steps to set up a mode key:
- Find the code for your brand of device in one of the setup code lists in this guide.
- Turn on your device.
- Press and hold the SELECT key and the appropriate mode key for that device until the mode key blinks twice. For example, to set up the VCR key, press and hold SELECT and VCR.
- Enter the setup code for the device
- Point the remote control toward the device.
- Press POWER, PLAY, or CH+ to test the device.
- Did the device operate correctly?
If yes, go to step 8.
If no, repeat steps 3 through 6 using a different setup code.
Note: If all of the codes listed for your brand of device fail to operate your device properly, go to the To Search for Codes section of this guide for instructions.
- Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each mode key.
- Write down your codes for future reference:
To Search for Codes - Back to Top
Note the improved capability: see steps 3 and 4.
The remote automatically searches for the device number for you!
If none of the codes listed for your device work, you can search through the code library for a valid code. The remote automatically selects the proper code.
- Turn on the device.
- Hold down the SELECT key and the appropriate mode key (AUX, VCR, TV, CBL) until the mode key blinks twice.
For example, to search for a TV code, hold down SELECT and TV. - Using the remote control keypad, press 991. The mode key blinks twice.
- NEW! Point the remote toward the device, and press the PLAY key.
The remote automatically tests each code in its library, beginning with the most common codes. The mode key blinks each time the remote transmits a new code. - As soon as the device powers down, press the SELECT key.
- Verify that the current code is correct by pressing the Power and Volume keys.
- Did the keys function as expected?
If yes, go to step 8.
If no, go back and repeat step 4.
- Press SELECT to confirm that the code is correct.
Which Code Did You Use? - Back to Top
You can find out which code you used to program your device by using the following procedure.
- Hold the SELECT key and the appropriate mode key (AUX, VCR, TV, CBL) until the mode key blinks twice.
- Using the remote control keypad, press 990. The mode key blinks twice.
- Press 1; then, count the number of times the mode key blinks. That number indicates the first digit in the code. For example, 4 blinks indicates the first digit in the code is 4. If the mode key does not blink, the digit is 0.
- Press 2; then, count the number of blinks. That number indicates the second digit in the code.
- Press 3; then, count the number of blinks. That number indicates the third digit in the code.
- Press 4; then, count the number of blinks. That number indicates the fourth digit in the code.
- Write down your codes for future reference.
