VCR Troubleshooting Tips
| After using the VCR, the cable won't work |
Make sure set-top terminal is turned on. If A/B switch, make sure A/B switch on B and TV are tuned to channel 3. If RCA jacks, make sure TV is on correct input/antenna for cable. |
| Channel changes on converter, but picture stays the same |
Common with hookup D If A/B switch, make sure switch on B and TV on 3. If RF Bypass, make sure bypass off and TV on 3. If RCA jacks, make sure TV is on correct input/antenna for cable. |
| The tape has low or no sound |
With hookups A, B, and D, the converter is controlling the volume as well as the channel being taped. If the volume level at the box is too low, or muted, that is the sound level the tape will receive. If Analog, make sure the converter volume is on "Best Stereo" before taping. If Digital, make sure converter volume is at 96 or higher via "settings". |
| Can't tape all channels |
VCR should be tuned in to channel 3 (or Line 1/Line 2) for hookups A, B and D, so that all channels subscribed to can be taped. VCR should be tuned into cable-ready line up (channels 2-71) with hookup C. |
| Poor playback quality |
Adjust tracking on VCR Make sure 3 - 4 playback switch on VCR is set to 3. |
| Can't tape at all/screen is blue or snowy |
Check all connections to make sure they are in correct places and not loose. Make sure VCR is on channel 3 (if A/B switch or Line 1/Line 2 for RCA jacks) for hookups A, B and D. |
