What is HDTV?
HDTV stands for High Definition Television—the most technologically advanced and exciting innovation in television viewing since color arrived 40 years ago. HDTV means that you can get a superior television picture: sharper images that are six times more detailed, more vibrant colors and better sound.
Better Picture
HDTV makes it possible for you to see television images that are clearer, sharper and more colorful. HDTV technology sends more information to your television set in the form of the tiny dots that make up the picture, which means you get a better viewing experience. Time Warner Cable can deliver all this additional television picture information to your home.
A better picture also means you will be able to see movies as they were originally created. That's because the dimensions of an HDTV picture are designed to be the same as the screen in a movie theater, resulting in true wide-screen viewing. Your HDTV television pictures will look like the movies you play on a DVD, only better. That "letterbox" effect, with the black bars top and bottom is eliminated with an HDTV set and HDTV programming, so you get the full picture that the director meant you to see.
Better Sound
If you have a home theater with surround sound, you will really notice the difference when you watch HDTV programs. Time Warner Cable is able to send Dolby Digital sound to your television set or surround sound system. So, with a bigger, clearer picture and Dolby Digital Sound, you can truly have your own home theater.
