Time Warner Cable: A Good Neighbor
What defines us? It's more than just being a world-class provider of entertainment, news and information. It is about how we honor our obligation to share our expertise, technology and resources in the communities we serve. At Time Warner Cable, responsible corporate citizenship is about an unwavering commitment to enrich, enhance and support our communities. The power of 30 seconds Airtime across 30 cable channels is donated to local non-profit organizations yearly. By giving visibility to these 30-second spots, we help increase awareness of these messages. Benefiting organizations include the Food Bank of New York City; PFLAG; New York Restoration Project; HELP USA; New York Cares; YAI (National Institute for People with Disabilities Network); Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Hudson Valley; Staten Island Children’s Museum; Snug Harbor Cultural Center; Community Agency for Senior Citizens; MS Society and Thalia Spanish Theater. The children's connection Our children’s campaign is an annual holiday tradition. Through a special offer to customers, a portion of the connection fees are earmarked to selected children’s charities. Since 1988, this campaign has raised over $2 million for agencies that help children in need. Recent beneficiaries include Child Abuse Prevention Program; Police Athletic League; Staten Island Children’s Campaign; Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Hudson Valley; Boys and Girls Club of Mt. Vernon and Hackensack University Medical Center’s Tomorrows Children Fund. Supporting local organizations Time Warner Cable makes direct contributions to a host of non-profit organizations that provide cultural, educational, health and social services to members of the community. Some recipients are New York Hall of Science; Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music; Colden Center for the Performing Arts; Junior Achievement of New York; Samaritan Foundation; The Posse Foundation; Greenbelt Conservancy; Verrazano Foundation; New Directions Services; Historic Richmond Town; Food Bank of Hudson Valley and the YMCA. The basics A warm winter coat- it's an essential item to brave the elements during a New York City winter. But many people lack this basic article of clothing. Every December, we collect coats at each of our New York City stores as part of the New York Cares Coat Drive. Our customers and employees have donated thousands of men's, women's and children coats for less fortunate New Yorkers. Greenstreets Since 2001 Time Warner Cable has sponsored the beautification and maintenance of a Greenstreets garden in Queens, New York. Greenstreets is a citywide program that operates through the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to convert paved, vacant traffic islands into gardens. Helping Our Hungry Neighbors The Center for Food Action in New Jersey has been working with individuals and families in crisis for more than 26 years to prevent hunger and homelessness. At our New Jersey office, we conduct a food drive every November in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Employees and customers contribute non-perishable food items for a holiday bounty to neighbors in need of assistance. Habitat for Humanity Time Warner Cable is a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh's Annual Walk, which raises funds to provide affordable housing for families who lack adequate shelter. A core group of cable employees rally colleagues, friends and families to support this nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building strong neighborhoods through home ownership. Safe Passage Adopt-A-Family Safe Passage provides battered women and their children safe, comfortable shelter, supportive counseling and advocacy. During the holiday season, Time Warner Cable employees adopt families in crisis. Our employees purchase items from a wish list of items ranging from clothes and toys to bedding and food. Mt. Vernon Summer Camp As a contributor, Time Warner Cable helps hundreds of underprivileged children enjoy summer in a safe, fun and nurturing environment. Boys and Girls Club Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow - all while having fun. Throughout the year, we provide support in a variety of ways for the 200 Mt. Vernon, NY children enrolled at the club. Sopranos Sing at Time Warner Cable Exclusive Screenings Exclusive premiere customer screenings of HBO's hit series, The Sopranos, are held at the Performing Arts Center on the College of Staten Island. Time Warner Cable hosted the free sneak previews for over 1,500 customers with special appearances by cast members Dominic Chianese and Steve Schirripa.
