Time Warner Cable and 'First Book' Supply Books To Area Children

Studies show that having access to a wide variety of reading materials is essential if a child is to grow and develop into a strong reader. The majority of children from low-income families have no books at all in their homes or classrooms, and as a result, direct access to books is extremely limited for these children.
In December 2006, Time Warner Cable-Rochester and its employees partnered with First Book to make a difference in the lives of children. First Book is an international nonprofit organization with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. First Book has distributed more than 46 million age-appropriate books to children in need and TWC is going to help continue this effort.
During the month-long fundraiser, Time Warner Cable employees raised over $1800.00! All the donations collected will be used to purchase approximately 1000 books for Rochester-area children who attend our partner school, School #29.
