PARENTAL CONTROLS
NEW FEATURES
May I change the color scheme of the TWC Navigator™?
The color scheme may not be changed.
ADMINISTRATIVE SCREEN
How do I find the Fast Forward (FF/SKIP) and Rewind (RR/JUMP BACK) on the progress bar?
To manipulate the progress bar, press the fast forward or reverse arrow buttons (next to the PLAY arrow button) on your remote. Additional presses of the FF/REW button will increase the FF/REW speed (denoted by one, two, or three arrow heads) until the maximum speed is reached.
USING TWC NAVIGATOR™
Where is my TWC Navigator™ Favorite List (FAV)?
There is no list in this version of the Navigator™. Instead, each program or channel designated as a favorite is marked by a star in the Guide listing. The star will also appear in the upper left corner of the screen when you are tuned to that program.
The Navigator™ seems slower. Can I make it go faster?
The speed of the Navigator may seem slower, but will vary based on the specific set top box model you have and sometimes your television. TWC is committed to improving this issue and is constantly working on engineering solutions.
Will my previous series recording settings transfer to the new TWC Navigator™?
Yes. The TWC Navigator™ will transfer the recording settings list as it is on the transfer date from the old database to the new one. TWC Navigator™ needs to find at least one record setting of a series on the transfer date. If there is no record setting of a series at that time, the TWC Navigator™ will not be able transfer the record setting.
Will my previously set “adjusted start/end time” settings transfer over to the new TWC Navigator™?
Yes, however, only if the adjusted time matches the exact time period that the new TWC Navigator™ supports. The new TWC Navigator™ uses slightly different time increments than the previous version. If a time setting does not match the time increments Navigator supports, TWC Navigator™ will default to a non-adjusted start/end time. We advise you to reset any desired adjusted start/end times using the time increments offered by the TWC Navigator™after the transfer.

PROGRAM STORAGE
How many days of data are available in the TWC Navigator™ Program Guide?
The Program Guide allows viewers to scroll up to 7 days in the future and two hours back from the current time, in 30-minute increments.
How long will a program display in the Recording Log?
All programs that have been recorded will remain in the Recording Log for 14 days. Deleted programs or programs that did not record will also be listed on the log for the same period. The Recording Log contains data about:
- Programs that did not record due to a recording conflict.
- Programs that did not record because there was no space available on the disk.
- Programs that were recorded but deleted by the user.
- Programs that were recorded and then deleted to make room for new recordings.
How can I access the amount of space left on my DVR?
This version of the TWC Navigator™ does not provide an alert that shows the amount space left on your DVR. The Recording Log will let you know that the show failed to record due to lack of available space. You will then need to delete some shows to make space for new recordings.
Is there a default delete date for the programs I have chosen to record or purchase?
The length of time a recording is saved is set by you.
RECORDING AND CANCELLING PROGRAMS
How do I record my favorite series?
- Using the remote control, select the series you’d like to record from the TWC Navigator™.
- Highlight the program in the GUIDE and press SELECT. A list of options will appear.
- Scroll to Record Series and press Select.
How do I record programs on a specific channel for a pre-determined block of time?
The TWC Navigator™ does not allow for recording by blocks of time. You must set the unit to record each show separately.
What are Alerts?
Alerts are colors that denote the whether a program is recording or has been purchased. The alert will highlight the program selected for recording or purchase with a color prior to the start of shows with a REMINDER TIMER or are on the SCHEDULED RECORDING list. Icons for each alert display within the colored cells.
What do the different Alert colors signify?
The TWC Navigator™ uses these colors to signify these alerts:
- Orange: A Reminder Timer has been set for a specific program.
- Red: A DVR recording has been scheduled.
- Green: A specific event has already been purchased.
Where is the Recording Now icon in the TWC Navigator™?
The RECORDING NOW icon will be found in two places: the INFO BANNER for a currently recording program includes a recording icon to indicate that the recording is in progress and it will be listed in the RECORDED SHOWS section of the SHOW LIST menu. When a show is recording or scheduled to record, both the listing in the Guide in the Navigator and a recording light on the front of your DVR will turn red.
How do I adjust the recording start and stop times for a scheduled recording on TWC Navigator™?
- Press LIST button on the remote to access the SHOW LIST screen.
- Highlight and SELECT the show you want to change.
- Choose ADJUST START TIME or ADJUST END TIME.
- Choose the number of minutes before and after the show starts and ends and press SELECT.
- OR, go to the SCHEDULED RECORDINGS area (for changes to individual shows or episodes) or the SERIES MANAGER section (for changes that apply to the entire series) and then follow steps two (2) through four (4) above.
Do I have control over setting program recording priorities?
No. The DVR gives highest priority to the most current request made, which usually means that requests are filled as they are made. To make sure that a particular program records in the event of a tuner conflict, delete any old requests for that program and re-submit a request. This will make it your “most recent request” and make it the highest priority request, ensuring it is recorded first.
How do I verify my program will be recorded?
- Press LIST button on the remote to access the SHOW LIST screen.
- Choose the SCHEDULED RECORDINGS list.
- Your choice will show up in red.
How do I know if there is a conflict?
- Press LIST button on the remote to access the SHOW LIST screen.
- Choose the SCHEDULED RECORDINGS list.
- Your choice will be in blue with the RECORD ICON with a line through it indicating the show will not be recorded.
- SELECT the program and you will be given options to resolve the conflict.
How does the TWC Navigator™ resolve recording conflicts?
If there is a conflict at the time a recording is scheduled, and you do not have chance to resolve the conflict before the programs begin, the TWC Navigator™ will make a decision to record a program based on the these priorities:
- Pay Per View event
- On Demand selection
- Any series or program scheduled in the same time slot.
A show that was scheduled but not recorded will display in the RECORDING LOG. A list of options may appear to allow you to resolve the conflict before the show airs.
How do I know my show is being recorded or has been purchased?
When a show has been purchased or is recording or scheduled to record, the cell in TWC Navigator™ turns red. The program will also be found in the Scheduled Recordings listings in the Show List menu.
How do I cancel a TWC Navigator™ On Demand and/or Pay Per View program?
Viewers may cancel a purchase during a zero (0) to five (5) minute Cancellation Window, set by their local TWC division office.
- To cancel a PAY PER VIEW program, press the A button on the remote (the yellow triangle button), go to the PURCHASES screen to find and cancel the purchased event.
- To cancel a MOVIE ON DEMAND (MoD), press the B button on the remote (the blue square button), then highlight and select the “Cancel this purchase” choice on screen.
For both On Demand and Pay Per View programs, the cancellation must occur within five minutes of the start of any non-Adult content program. There is no cancellation policy for Adult content programming.
How do I confirm the cancellation of an On Demand or Pay Per View program?
When a show is recording or scheduled to record, the cell in TWC Navigator™ turns red. If that recording or purchase is canceled, the cell will return to the default (blue) color. In addition, the show will no longer be listed in the Scheduled Recordings area of the Show List menu.
PARENTAL CONTROLS
What is Parental Control?
Parental Control allows you to control the programs that can be viewed on your TV. This way, you can make sure your family doesn't watch anything you don't want them to. Before you can turn Parental Control on, you must set up your Parental Control blocking preferences. You may block programs in five (5) different ways:
- By Channel
- By Content
- By Rating
- By Time
- By Title
Which TWC Navigator™ block option is more inclusive?
No option is more inclusive than another. Rather, the blocking options are meant to be used in concert and as needed. You may use as many combinations of blocks as needed to control the programming reaching your home.
How do I determine if a channel, show, or time period is blocked?
- Using the remote, go to the Navigator™ SETTINGS screen to check the status of blocked categories.
- Turn on the PARENTAL CONTROLS.
- Check that your choices are indeed designated as blocked. That is, they are highlighted and have a CLOSED LOCK next to the program title, the channel, the time slot, etc. Also, if you tune to a blocked channel, you will see a BLOCK SCREEN with instructions on how to disable all blocks, or how to disable blocks only while you watch the currently blocked program.
- Make any changes needed.
- Select SAVE/RETURN.
What will I see if a channel block is in effect?
As mentioned above, you will see a CLOSED LOCK next to a program title, channel, content, time slot, etc. on a highlighted background. If there is no CLOSED LOCK icon next to the channel, content, program title, time slot, etc., it is likely that the PARENTAL CONTROLS are turned off.
Is there a list of the Blocked Channels and Blocked Ratings I have selected in the Blocking Settings option?
There are no lists of blocked channels available at this time. This information is found in the GUIDE format only at this time. As mentioned above, you will be able to check upon the status of a program by entering PARENTAL CONTROLS section within the SETTINGS menu and checking for the CLOSED LOCK icon next to that which you wish to block or you may simply attempt to tune in to something you wish to check. If the program is blocked, a BLOCKED CHANNEL message will be displayed on the screen in place of the blocked channel or program.
Is my Purchase PIN the same as my Parental Control PIN? If I modify one does it change the other?
The Purchase PIN and the Parental Control PIN are separate.
- The Purchase PIN is found under PURCHASES within the SETTINGS menu.
- The Parental Control PIN is found under PARENTAL CONTROLS within the SETTINGS menu.
- The default for both PINs is set by each local Time Warner Cable office (typically 0000). You will be prompted to create your own, personal PINs.
