If you like keeping up with new technologies and embracing continuous change, you'll enjoy the cable business. As a field service manager in California, I oversee more than 50 people and a number of contractors who are responsible for bringing cable to the home and keeping our customers satisfied. There are installers who run the cable, service people who handle repairs, dispatchers who route calls and arrange schedules, and many others responsible for everything from customer service to new technology implementation. After 15 years in the business, I have seen remarkable change and growth take place. It all began with basic cable, but now we're addressing new applications ranging from Video On Demand to High Definition Television and High Speed Data. There always seems to be a new challenge and learning experience every day. From being on the customer service committee to attending leadership meetings every week, my day fills up quickly and keeps me on my toes. That's one of the reasons why I really like working at Time Warner Cable.
Elijah When someone's cable in New York isn't working, I'm the person that comes to the rescue. During the last World Series with the Yankees, I became a hometown hero by making sure the fans on one of our cable nodes got to watch the game after a sudden malfunction. My job is all about customer service, and I received a Total Quality Service Award and a vacation to Puerto Rico for the extra effort. I've been in the cable business since 1970, the very beginning of the industry. I got my training in the Marine Corps in microwave technology and just naturally extended it into civilian life. When I started, there were only 12 channels, and no box. Now at Time Warner Cable, we offer services and products for everything from cable television, to computer networking, to full fiber digital service. That's what I like about my job. You have to constantly keep up with the changes in technology, yet still remember the human side of keeping every customer happy and satisfied.
Fiber Optic Technician Time Warner Cable Millions of people around Ohio count on me for news and entertainment. That's because I'm one of the guys responsible for making sure their cable TV and Road Runner services are up and running 24/7. As a Fiber Technician, I take care of damaged fiber and 13 fiber hubs across the region. When people turn on HBO and see a picture, they know I'm doing my job. Sometimes you really have to go out of your way to ensure cable reliability. In fact, once I forded a freezing cold river to save a fiber line knocked over by a 60-foot tree during a storm. That was an extraordinary day, and I received a Total Quality Service Award from the company. Time Warner Cable is a great place to work if you want to be on the leading edge of technology. Recently, we were the first in the state to roll out Video On Demand services across cable. Everybody works together to get the job done. That's the kind of place this is. It's all about good people working hard and enjoying what they do. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
