Our Commitment to Communities
At Time Warner Cable, community service is more than just a buzzword. It’s woven into the fabric of who we are. By reaching out to local governments, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations in the communities where we do business, we develop and provide programs, services and resources tailored to benefit customers and our communities alike.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
With a presence in 33 states, our local community outreach includes support for symphonies, art and dance organizations, youth after school activities, environmental concerns, economic development, adopt-a-school initiatives and more. In addition, Time Warner Cable's Employee Volunteer Grant program awards grants to employees to fund such varied nonprofit local initiatives as pet adoption services, refurbishment of youth sports facilities, community environmental projects and equipment for day care facilities, to name just a few.
Time Warner Cable's community activism embraces corporate philanthropy as well. Each year, we donate several million dollars directly to nonprofit organizations. Greater still are the tens of millions of dollars more of in-kind contributions provided through activities such as the production and distribution of public service announcements. These donations support both local initiatives and national nonprofit organizations. Our educational outreach programs are underwritten by more than $3 million in annual funding across the divisions.

Time Warner Cable also helps local not-for-profit organizations by promoting their meetings, events and fundraisers on Channel 20's Community Billboard. To learn more or to submit your event's details for Time Warner Cable's Community Billboard, visit the Community Billboard page.
EDUCATION
At Time Warner Cable education is the cornerstone of what we do. Through initiatives such as Cable in the Classroom and Cable’s High Speed Education Connection, we use our vast network to deliver the resources of cable programming and technology at no cost to schools across our footprint. To date, over 14,000 of those schools are connected, making it possible for more than eight million students to receive hundreds of hours of quality, commercial-free educational programming every month. Recognizing the need to expand access to these resources beyond the classroom, we also offer free cable modem and High Speed Online service to public libraries. Working with national and local partners, the company provides free Road Runner service to select community centers as well.
To foster use of technology as an effective learning resource, every year Time Warner Cable honors classroom projects and the teachers who develop them with the Time Warner Cable National Teacher Awards. In addition, some of our divisions sponsor Star Teacher Awards, where students nominate those educators who have had a positive impact on their lives.
As more Americans turn their attention to the race for the White House, the new and improved online learning game - 2008 eLECTIONS: Your Adventure in Politics - lets players call the political shots in presidential campaigning and educates kids about the political process and power of one vote.

Extending the impact of our community commitment is the energetic and enthusiastic contribution of our employees. Across the country, Time Warner Cable employees and community volunteers devote countless hours of personal time for the company’s Time To Read literacy/mentoring program. Now in its 23rd year, the program is the nation’s largest corporate-sponsored volunteer program of its kind with more than 5,000 participants.
