2011 Metro Sports High School Football Broadcast Schedule

Expanded Coverage Includes Two Games Each Week

Release Date: 08/02/2011

KANSAS CITY (August 2, 2011) – Time Warner Cable Metro Sports is adding Thursday night action to its 2011 local high school football broadcast schedule, doubling the number of games aired and introducing high-definition coverage to many of this year’s matchups.

Metro Sports, already known as Kansas City’s high school sports leader, will air a High School Football Showcase game on Thursday evenings and the Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week on Friday nights.

All games will be broadcast live on Metro Sports, and the majority will also be broadcast in high definition. The first Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week will be a huge matchup between Rockhurst and Blue Springs on Friday, Aug. 26.

“Without a doubt Kansas City sports fans really love high school football,” said Chris Huwe, TWC Metro Sports general manager. “Metro Sports has always prided itself on providing fans with the best high school coverage in the area, and now with two games each week, we’ll be able to give our viewers even more of what they want.”

A wide variety of teams are featured in Metro Sports’ fall schedule, and in order to guarantee exposure for a large number of Kansas City area teams, no school is scheduled to appear more than twice.

The 2011 high school football broadcast schedule will also “flex” late in the season to make sure that Metro Sports viewers are provided with the best possible matchups as the regular season nears its end.

Kevin Wike and Richard Baldinger will handle the broadcast duties for the Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week on Fridays, while the High School Football Showcase games on Thursday nights will feature Metro Sports personalities, along with a variety of analysts.

In addition to the two football game broadcasts each week, Metro Sports will continue to provide an unprecedented amount of high school sports coverage to its viewers this fall. “Varsity KC” will cover Kansas City area high school athletics every Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and “High School Roundup” will be live every Friday night at 10:30 p.m. with recaps of all the area high school football action. Metro Sports will also be televising numerous other high school sporting events throughout the fall, including volleyball, soccer and more.

Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30 and 310 and in HD on 1310), Comcast (channel 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37).
