Time Warner Cable Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Giving through Annual Children’s Campaign

New York, NY — July 16, 2009 – Time Warner Cable celebrates 20 years of enriching the lives of children in local communities through its Annual Children’s Campaign, designed to give back to local non-profit organizations.  This year, $100,000 was raised through Time Warner Cable’s Annual Children’s Campaign, and to date, over $3.5 million has been donated to local groups. 

The six organizations that benefitted from this year’s campaign are:

— Police Athletic League.  New York City’s largest, non-profit independent youth organization serves 70,000 New York City boys and girls each year with recreational, educational, cultural and social programs.

— Child Abuse Prevention Program.  At the forefront of arming children with the necessary tools to prevent and report child abuse, their award-winning Child Safety Workshops have delivered this important message to over 300,000 New York City students.

— Staten Island Children’s Campaign. 17 non-profit organizations are supported through a diverse array of services to disadvantaged children on Staten Island. 

— Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hudson Valley.  The wishes of more than 1,600 children with life-threatening medical conditions in the Hudson Valley region have been granted by enriching their experience with hope and strength.

— Boys & Girls Club of Mt. Vernon.  Inspires and enables all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

— Englewood Area Community Foundation.  Enhancing community life through locally-based initiatives that address current and emerging needs in the areas of education, public health, and community building.

Created in 1989, Time Warner Cable’s Annual Children’s Campaign helps provide much-needed funds to key organizations that enhance education and develop skills for children.  Since its inception, the company has donated over $3.5 million to children’s organizations.
