$30,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS GOES TO 15 LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Tuition Assistance Provided to College-Bound Students in Financial Need

August 6, 2007 – New York, NY – Time Warner Cable of New York & New Jersey recently awarded $30,000 in scholarships at their annual awards breaksfast at the the Time & Life Building in New York City. The scholarship program is exclusive to children of Time Warner Cable customers. This year’s recipients include 15 Class of 2007 high school graduates selected from within Time Warner Cable’s service areas: New York City (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn), Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley, and Bergen and Hudson Counties, New Jersey.  Each recipient will receive $2,000.

“Education is at the forefront of Time Warner Cable’s community investment. We developed a scholarship program to assist our customers with higher education expenses,” stated Harriet Novet,  Vice President, Public Affairs. “This is an opportunity for us to share our resources and directly impact the individuals we serve,” added Novet.

Since the inception of the program in 2000, more than $300,000 has been distributed to local college-bound students.  Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, community involvement and academic performance.

NY1 News anchor Lewis Dodley served as keynote speaker at the scholarship ceremony.  Dodley joined NY1 in 1992 after previously working as an anchor of the “Bulldog Edition” on WNET/THIRTEEN.  Prior, Dodley worked as a reporter for the Financial News Network, as well as a freelance writer for Financial World Magazine. NY1 is a 24-hour cable news network available exclusively to Time Warner Cable customers.

Time Warner Cable’s commitment to education includes scholarships and grants, complimentary high speed internet access and video to public schools, internship and trainee programs, complimentary teacher resource guides and workshops for educators together with a variety of unique learning opportunities throughout the year.

Scholarship recipients represent Bay Ridge, Elmhurst, Fort Lee, Flushing, Glendale, Glasco, East Harlem, West Harlem, Middletown, Mount Vernon, Ridgewood, Staten Island, Turtle Bay, Washingtonville and Whitestone. Students plan to pursue higher education at colleges including Dartmouth, Stanford University, NYU, Columbia University and Brown University.
