Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division has announced that applications are now being accepted for the third annual Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards. The national awards program recognizes individuals who are helping to improve education for children in and out of school, creating 21st century learning environments that children need to succeed. Nomination forms and additional information is available online at http://www.leadersinlearningawards.org/. The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2006.
Nominations are being accepted in five categories: General Excellence, Cable Partnerships for Learning, Pushing the Envelope, Policymaker Excellence and Media Literacy Education.
Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards recognize a broad array of innovators, including:
• Creative classroom educators, administrators, community leaders, and policymakers who are transforming education in K-12 schools.
• Those who have had a major impact on educating youth both in and out of the classroom.
• Those who have adopted innovative learning practices that have transformed an aspect of education on a large or small scale.
Winners will be recognized during an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. in June, 2007. Each winning educator will receive a $3,000 cash prize, while policymakers will receive a $3,000 grant to award to a charitable organization of their choice.
The awards are being administered by Cable in the Classroom (CIC), the cable industry’s education foundation, which works to expand and enhance learning for children and youth. Created in 1989 to help schools take advantage of educational cable programming and technology, CIC has become a leading national advocate for media literacy education and for the use of technology and media for learning, as well as a valuable resource of educational cable content and services for policymakers, educators and industry leaders.
