(NEW YORK) - Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and Time Warner Cable Business Class today announced that all calls placed by its Digital Phone customers to Chile in the wake of the recent earthquake there will be free of charge. The program, which will encompass calls made in the two weeks immediately following the Chilean earthquake will apply for both landline and cellular telephones.
Mike Jablon, Vice President of Digital Phone Product Strategy said, “For our customers who were frantically trying to reach loved ones or check on business interests, this program will be a small relief, and the least we can do.”
Customers who made calls to Chile during the eligible period do not need to make any changes in order to take advantage of this program. The program will cover any Time Warner Cable Digital Phone subscriber, including those with Business Class accounts. Time Warner Cable will issue credits to the appropriate accounts, with no need to call a customer service representative. Time Warner Cable estimates that the program will provide $200,000 worth of relief to affected customers. This program applies solely for direct dial calls. Calls to operators or directory assistance will be charged at the usual rate.
