New York City – In less than two weeks, Staten Island Chuck will emerge from his home at the Staten Island Zoo to make his annual prediction on whether there will be six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Time Warner Cable will be the sponsor of the February 2nd ceremony and will help New Yorkers “Enjoy Groundhog Day Better” through fun activities and giveaways.
On January 26th, New Yorkers can share their weather predictions with costume character Staten Island Chuck at the Time Warner Cable store. Visitors can get their photo taken with him and pick up free giveaways. The store is located at 2845 Richmond Avenue and Chuck will be available from 1 to 2PM.
On Groundhog Day, the zoo will offer free admission to New Yorkers who wish to witness Chuck’s prediction. Time Warner Cable will greet guests with complimentary hot beverages to help them stay warm during the 7AM ceremony and hand out free giveaways. Time Warner Cable will also have an interactive photo activity onsite and give attendees the opportunity to win tickets for a return visit to the zoo.
“As long time members of the Staten Island community, we are very proud to once again sponsor Staten Island Chuck and his weather predicting celebration,” said Tony Ontiveros, Area Vice President of Operations of Staten Island for Time Warner Cable. “We are big fans of the zoo and, through Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds initiative, are happy to support many of the zoo’s programs to encourage children to explore the wonders of science.”
