FOOTBALL PLAYERS PUSH “SMART CAR” TO SURPRISED WINNER OF TIME WARNER CABLE DIGITAL PHONE SWEEPSTAKES

Avila Dance Team Members Join Football Players and Road Runner Mascot in Surprising Winner at Work with Festooned Convertible

Release Date: 11/21/2008

The grand prize winner of Time Warner Cable’s Digital Phone smart® fortwo Sweepstakes was flabbergasted when a new convertible was delivered to her at work by Avila University football players pushing it across the parking lot. Digital Phone smart® fortwo Sweepstakes grand prize winner Deanna Bennett climbed into the new car she won as her co-workers, Avila University dance team members, and the Road Runner high speed Internet mascot cheered.

Bennett was surprised on the job by Time Warner Cable employees carrying a giant balloon bouquet. They escorted her to the parking lot, where the festooned smart® fortwo passion cabriolet decked out in a giant bow was delivered to her. While Bennett knew that she had won a car, only her boss at Aegis Fire Protection and Security knew that the car was being delivered that afternoon.

“It doesn’t seem real. I still can’t believe it,” says Bennett, who became eligible to win the car by ordering and installing Time Warner Cable Digital Phone between July 21-Sept. 21. Bennett had switched all of her residential communications and video services to Time Warner Cable during that time period. “It’s so nice to be able to have the phone, Internet, cable -- everything in one package,” she says.

Bennett said that she was told about the contest when she signed up for service but thought “Oh, you never win.” When information arrived informing her that she had won the silver two-seater with black trim, she was skeptical. She called the contact name on the letter to ask what her chances were of winning. The reply – you’ve already won.

“I’ve never won anything in my life. I guess if you’re going to win, win big, right?” says Bennett. She plans to keep her prize secret from her family until they arrive from Iowa for Thanksgiving. Bennett says that, although the car is loaded with options including heated leather seats, she’s anxious for warm weather so she can put down the convertible top.

Time Warner Cable Director of Public Affairs Damon Porter, who helped present Bennett with a giant cardboard key at the surprise prize presentation, says the sweepstakes tied two innovative products together. “Digital Phone, with its flat-rate unlimited local and long distance calling, broke new ground in the residential phone market. Digital Phone is an amazing value and represents a new way of thinking about telephone service. The smart® fortwo is innovative as well with its unique design, terrific gas mileage, fun exterior, and an interior that feels spacious and luxurious.”

In addition to the grand prize smart® fortwo passion cabriolet, Time Warner Cable awarded ten $500 gas cards and 50 free Movies On Demand. Ten new Digital Phone customers also won free phone service for a year.
