Kansas City, MO (January 4, 2012) – Time Warner Cable Metro Sports announced today that the station will kick off its 2012 high school basketball game broadcasts this Friday night.
This week’s Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week broadcast will highlight the grand opening of Liberty North High School’s new state-of-the-art fieldhouse, with the Liberty North girls hosting Oak Park at 6 p.m. and the Liberty North boys hosting St. Joseph Lafayette at 7:30. The Liberty North boys team is in the midst of a strong start to the season and enters their game Friday ranked #13 in the Metro Sports area top 25 basketball poll with a 10-2 record.
“With the atmosphere that you find at these games, you can tell that high school basketball certainly has a special place in our local sports community,” said Chris Huwe, TWC Metro Sports general manager. ”We’re ready to get started with our Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week basketball broadcasts, and there is no better way to do it than to showcase Liberty North’s incredible new fieldhouse.”
Both games on Friday will be broadcast in crystal-clear high definition on Metro Sports, with play-by-play announcer Kevin Wike and analyst Doug Elstun calling the action. Metro Sports is available throughout the Kansas City area on Time Warner Cable (channel 30, 310 and 1310-HD), Comcast (channel 44 and 258) and Knology in Lawrence (channel 37).
In addition to the live game broadcasts on Friday night, both the Liberty North girls and boys games will be available to watch on KC On Demand beginning early next week. Located on channel 411, KC On Demand is Time Warner Cable’s free digital channel devoted to local sports, business news, education, arts and entertainment. To view Metro Sports’ high school basketball broadcasts, TWC customers can visit channel 411 and click on the “Metro Sports” tab.
