Northwest Arkansas Naturals Baseball Coming to Time Warner Cable Metro Sports

Televised games Saturday and Monday will let Royals fans watch talented prospects

KANSAS CITY (August 5, 2011) – Kansas City Royals fans will have another chance to take a look at the talent stockpiled in Major League Baseball’s No. 1 ranked farm system in the coming days. Time Warner Cable Metro Sports, which has already aired three Omaha Storm Chasers games this year, will be broadcasting the Northwest Arkansas Naturals home games this Saturday at 7 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale, against the Arkansas Travelers.

The Naturals, the Royals Double-A affiliate, feature up-and-coming prospects like Will Myers, Jake Odorizzi and Christian Colon. Northwest Arkansas has had a solid 2011 season thus far, and enters tonight’s action in first-place in the Texas League north division standings with a 56-51 record.

“There is a great buzz around the Royals minor league system right now, and we’re looking forward to letting our viewers watch some of these future stars in action,” said Chris Huwe, General Manager of Metro Sports.

Earlir this year, the Royals were ranked by Baseball America as having the No. 1 ranked minor league system in all of baseball. Nine Royals farmhands were ranked among the top 100 minor league prospects, so the future certainly looks bright for Kansas City’s hometown baseball team.

In addition to the Naturals game broadcasts on Saturday and Monday, baseball fans can also get extensive Royals coverage each week on Metro Sports. “Blue Zone,” which airs Monday evenings at 6 p.m., is a 30-minute weekly program that features Royals discussion and analysis. Fans can also see highlights and analysis of every Royals game on “Metro Sports Zone,” which airs nightly at 10 p.m.

Time Warner Cable Metro Sports is available on channels 30/1310-HD in Kansas City, and is also available regionally on Comcast channel 258 and Knology channel 37 in Lawrence.
