KANSAS CITY (June 10, 2011) – The wait is over for Kansas City Royals fans ready to take a look at the talent stockpiled in Major League Baseball’s No. 1 ranked farm system. Time Warner Cable Metro Sports and the Omaha Storm Chasers are working together to bring Royals fans four triple-A league games this summer, providing fans their first glimpse of Mike Montgomery, Lorenzo Cain and other prospects that have fans optimistic for a bright future.
The first broadcast on June 13 features the division-leading Storm Chasers playing host to the Iowa Cubs. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Omaha Storm Chasers radio broadcaster Mark Nasser will handle play-by-play alongside former Royal Al Fitzmorris.
Other scheduled games on TWC Metro Sports include the June 27 matchup with the Memphis Redbirds and the July 25 game versus the Round Rock Express. A fourth game will be announced later.
Earlier this year, the Royals were ranked by Baseball America as having the No. 1 ranked minor league system in all of baseball. Nine Royals farmhands were ranked among the top 100 minor league prospects including Moustakas and Montgomery. Omaha’s roster also includes highly touted prospects such as David Lough, Johnny Giavotella and Clint Robinson. The team also includes young players already familiar to Royals fans from their time in Kansas City including Jarrod Dyson, Kila Ka’aihue, Jeremy Jeffress and Robinson Tejeda.
The 2011 season has been an exciting one in Omaha. The team moved into its new home at Werner Park and currently leads the Pacific Coast League American North division with a 33-26 record.
