New York, NY – September 26, 2006 – Launched in 2006, DTV-Digital Cable is now seen in one million New York City area homes, according to officials at the New York City division of Time Warner Cable. “This milestone was reached by providing high-quality customer care and by building a fiber-rich, technologically advanced network,” stated Barbara Kelly, Senior Vice President and General Manager. “I can proudly say that our employees deliver impeccable service, making us the leading multi-service provider in New York City. We are one of the first cable systems nationwide to reach one million digital customers.”
To commemorate this milestone, the company hosted a celebration at the home of the officially designated one-millionth DTV customer today. The Williams family, who reside in Laurelton, Queens, received one year of free cable, Digital Phone and high-speed Internet service, along with a new flat-panel High-Definition television, high-end multimedia computer and home theater system. “I was ecstatic to learn that I was the millionth digital customer grand prize winner,” stated Karel Williams. “I just recently upgraded to Time Warner Cable’s Triple Play, which saved quite a bit of money for my household. But I never dreamed I would get these spectacular prizes. It’s great to have these three services from one company, and all these gifts are more than I ever expected from my cable company.” The entire package of services and equipment is valued at more than $10,000.
“This milestone represents our commitment to customers,” said Kelly. “It’s clear that customers quickly embraced digital technology and its advanced services. The all-digital platform translates to expanded programming and more advanced services in the future. We have a strategy that is built around matching innovation with customer interests and providing world class customer service, reliability and value.”
Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey has set the pace for innovative services. In 2002, Video On Demand services were launched, enabling scores of movies to be available “on demand” together with Premium On Demand. In 2003, the company launched a Spanish-language digital service, DTV en Español, and digital video recorders were introduced, bringing customers the ultimate in customized viewing. Digital Phone launched in 2004, making local and long-distance calling part of its attractively priced Triple Play.
Digital cable from Time Warner Cable provides customers with access to more than 250 crystal-clear digital channels. “We offer something for every member of the family including 25 Free On Demand channels,” added Kelly. An onscreen picture-in-picture program guide allows customers to easily find their favorite programming and provides access to hit movies conveniently and easily through Movies On Demand. “Our advanced onscreen program guide provides menus and programming details that are easy to access,” Kelly said. “Through our digital cable converters, customers can also easily set parental controls which enable a parent to block channels based on channel, MPAA rating or time of day.”
