New York, NY – Sunnyside Community Services (“SCS”) and Time Warner Cable today celebrated the one year anniversary of the Technology Center powered by Time Warner Cable. This state-of-the-art facility serves as a vital resource and educational tool for residents in Sunnyside, Queens. Time Warner Cable partnered with SCS to provide access to the latest technologies and specialized e-learning programs to seniors, families and young people.
“By partnering with Sunnyside Community Services to create a Technology Center, we serve seniors, adults and young people with accessibility to the latest technologies to develop important skills useful in all facets of life. Providing simple and easy access to these important resources at this state-of-the-art Technology Center is another way Time Warner Cable connects people with technology in the communities we serve,” said Harriet Novet, Regional Vice President of Public Affairs, Time Warner Cable New York City.
The Technology Center powered by Time Warner Cable is fully equipped with state-of-the-art computers, computer software, Time Warner Cable Business Class High-Speed Internet service, flat screen high definition (HD) televisions, HD cable service including an HD DVR and digital cameras -- all underwritten by Time Warner Cable.
“Sunnyside Community Services is an exceptional organization which now plays a critical role in ensuring technology and e-learning programs are developed to maximize the full potential of the Technology Center and its abundant resources,” added Novet.
An official ceremony was held at SCS today with special guests including Executive Director of Sunnyside Community Services Judith Zangwill, Regional Vice President of Public Affairs of Time Warner Cable’s East Region/NYC Harriet Novet, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and Don McCallian on behalf of Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan.

SCS reaches over 18,000 individuals of all ages with programs including after-school options, ESL and citizenship classes, job skills and college readiness programs, family literacy, a full-service center for active older adults, home care services, adult day care for individuals with Alzheimer's, and more. The Police Athletic League’s Harlem Center in Upper Manhattan houses the first official Technology Center powered by Time Warner Cable.
