Release Date: 03/06/2013

New York, March 6, 2013 – Time Warner Cable today announced it has been awarded more than $5 million in state funding through Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Connect NY Broadband Grant Program. Time Warner Cable will participate in the Statewide Broadband Expansion Project to deploy robust high-speed Internet service to more than 4,000 households in communities throughout New York State.

The $25 million in Connect NY Broadband Grants brings the total amount of funding awarded for broadband projects during Governor Cuomo’s administration to more than $56 million.

“Time Warner Cable applauds Governor Cuomo for his vision to bring broadband to unserved communities, residents and businesses throughout New York State,” said Rory Whelan, Time Warner Cable’s Regional Vice President of Government Relations for the Northeast. “The Connect NY program is a true public/private partnership that allows New York State to leverage the expertise and resources of advanced communications providers like Time Warner Cable, in combination with thoughtful state leadership, to bring the benefits of broadband and the Internet to many more New Yorkers.”

“Governor Cuomo’s Connect NY program is a model for other states to follow as they look to maximize resources and deploy broadband to areas that need it most, and Time Warner Cable is proud to partner with the Governor on his initiative. This is good government at its best, with the public and private sectors working together to advance the common goal of broadband deployment, and we thank the Governor for our generous Connect NY grant,” added Whelan.

Time Warner Cable’s efforts will help strengthen New York’s broadband capacity and meet the growing demand to have fast Internet speeds at home.
