Los Angeles, CA – If you’re in and around Los Angeles and surfing the Web using public WiFi, there’s a good chance you’re on Time Warner Cable’s multi-million dollar WiFi network. That’s because today, the network spans more than 300 miles of Southern California, offering more than 12,000 hotspots available at no cost to Time Warner Cable customers with Standard Internet or above, and on a pay-as-you-go-basis to non-subscribers.
The company launched the first phase of its WiFi network build out in September 2011 and has steadily grown the network to cover areas throughout Southern California, including popular beaches, downtowns, shopping districts and visitor destinations. Among the recent areas and places where TWC WiFi has been deployed are:
- Nixon Library (Yorba Linda)
- Hollywood Casting & Film
- Brea downtown
- Santa Monica/West LA
- San Fernando Valley, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard/Ventura, Santa Clarita
- Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance
- I-10 Corridor – San Gabriel Valley
- Orange County - Costa Mesa, Tustin, Orange
- Riverside - Corona
“WiFi deployment continues to be a top initiative for Time Warner Cable,” said Mike Roudi, SVP of Corporate Development for Time Warner Cable. “We know that being connected to the Internet wherever you are is a hugely important feature, so we’ll continue to invest to bring WiFi to areas where our customers live, work and play. It’s like taking your home Internet service with you.”
In addition to Time Warner Cable’s extensive WiFi network in Southern California, TWC WiFi deployment is underway in Austin, Kansas City, Hawaii, Charlotte and New York City. Time Warner Cable Internet customers also have access to the nation’s largest free WiFi Hotspot network, now with over 150,000 hotspots, through the Cable WiFi® network. The network enables TWC Internet customers to access the hotspots operated by TWC and other Internet service providers in major cities across the country including New York City; Los Angeles; Chicago; Philadelphia; Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco; Orlando; Tampa, Kansas City, Charlotte and more.
