Charlotte, NC – Time Warner Cable and News 14 Carolina wrapped up its month-long “Holiday Hopes & Happenings” drive by delivering more than 6,200 toys and gifts to the Salvation Army for families in need across North and South Carolina. In addition, more than 300 Time Warner Cable employees are volunteering 1100 hours of their time across the Carolinas, delivering gifts and working at Salvation Army Toy Shops and distribution centers.
“Helping our neighbors is what this season is all about and Time Warner Cable is very pleased to have been able to play a small part in making the holidays a little brighter this year for families across North and South Carolina,” said Darrel Hegar, regional vice president of operations, Time Warner Cable Carolinas.
The toys and other items were purchased and donated by Time Warner Cable customers and employees. This year, Time Warner Cable partnered with several businesses across the Carolinas that served as drop off locations for toys from the public. They were:
- Toys & Co locations in Myrtle Beach, SC; Charlotte and Greensboro, NC
- O2 Fitness locations in Raleigh and Wilmington, NC
- Shadracks Christmas Wonderland Light Display in Myrtle Beach, SC
- Love Buick GMC in Columbia, SC
“Needs are being met at record levels because of community efforts like Holiday Hopes & Happenings,” said Major James Seiler, General Secretary for The Salvation Army. “Simply put, thousands of children across North and South Carolina will have new toys and gifts on Christmas morning. That would not have been possible without the partnership of Time Warner Cable and News 14 Carolina."
