Time Warner Cable has surpassed the 100 high-definition (HD) channel milestone in time for a great new fall season of programming. Included in the more than 100 HD viewing options are more than 70 channels available on Time Warner Digital Cable’s free HD tier.
Just this year, Time Warner Cable has more than tripled the number of high-definition channels offered to its local customers. This tremendous growth in its HD library has been made possible by investments in new infrastructure and improved technologies like switched digital video, which delivers programming only when requested by a customer.
“Time Warner Cable offers our digital customers not just a better quality viewing experience but also more free high definition programming than any other video provider,” said John Quigley, Regional Vice President of Operations, Time Warner Cable. “We know more of our customers own HD sets now than ever before so we have worked hard to provide them programming that takes full advantage of their TV sets,” he added.
Time Warner Cable’s investment in advanced technology, coupled with the explosion in available HD content, has allowed the company to add more HD and Start Over-enabled channels in addition to hundreds more hours of On Demand content since the start of 2009, Quigley said.
“By augmenting our HD content with enhanced HD, on demand and digital features, we offer a service unparalleled by any competing video or internet provider,” he continued. “Today, we’re proud to say that in less than one year, not only did we deliver on our commitment but our product is of the highest quality, not just quantity.”
