KANSAS CITY (November 4, 2011) – The high school football playoffs kick off tonight on Metro Sports with the “Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week” between Rockhurst and Rock Bridge. Fans won’t have to wait long for more televised playoff action, as Time Warner Cable will also broadcast the Winnetonka Griffins vs. Fort Osage Indians sectional matchup on Monday.
Winnetonka/Fort Osage will kick off at 7 p.m. Monday and will be next week’s “Hy-Vee High School Game of the Week.” The game will be broadcast on Metro Sports 2 (TWC Channel 311) and Metro Network (TWC Channel 5) due to the Metro Sports TV broadcast of Missouri Tigers basketball.
Fort Osage is considered one of the top teams in Missouri Class 5 and enters Monday’s game with a 9-1 record, having won six straight games and coming off a 28-0 win over Park Hill South. Winnetonka enters with momentum as well, defeating Truman High School 14-0 in their last game. These two teams have already met once this season, with Fort Osage earning a hard-fought 28-25 victory last month.
“This is the most exciting time of the year for high school football fans, and we’re proud to be able to provide great programming like this to the Time Warner Cable customers in the Kansas City area,” said Chris Huwe, General Manager of TWC Metro Sports.
The game Monday night will be called by Kevin Wike, with Richard Baldinger providing the color commentary and David Belfonte reporting from the sidelines.
